Fraternity and Sorority Life at Virginia Tech

Fraternity & Sorority Life at Virginia Tech is a vibrant, values-based community that empowers students to build lifelong friendships, develop leadership skills, achieve academic success, and serve others while embracing the university's motto, Ut Prosim ("That I May Serve"). Representing a diverse network of organizations across four governing councils, the community fosters personal growth through leadership opportunities, philanthropy, campus involvement, and service. Guided by the values of integrity, scholarship, service, and belonging, Fraternity & Sorority Life promotes an inclusive and supportive environment where members are encouraged to make a positive impact on campus and in their communities while developing the skills and relationships that extend far beyond their time at Virginia Tech.

Panhellenic Council

The Panhellenic Council (PHC) is the governing council for Virginia Tech's 13 National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) sororities, representing more than 2,800 women. Guided by the values of scholarship, leadership, service, and sisterhood, PHC supports its member chapters through recruitment, educational programming, leadership development, and community-wide initiatives. Together, Panhellenic women foster lifelong friendships while living out Virginia Tech's motto, Ut Prosim ("That I May Serve").

Interfraternity Council

The Interfraternity Council (IFC) serves as the governing body for Virginia Tech's traditionally men's fraternities. IFC promotes leadership, scholarship, community engagement, and accountability while supporting chapter operations, recruitment, and educational programming. Through collaboration and service, IFC members strive to create a positive and impactful fraternity experience rooted in Virginia Tech's values.

United Council of Fraternities & Sororities

The United Council of Fraternities & Sororities (UCFS) serves as the governing council for culturally based fraternities and sororities at Virginia Tech. UCFS is dedicated to fostering leadership, academic excellence, cultural awareness, and community engagement while celebrating the diverse identities and traditions of its member organizations. Through educational programming, service initiatives, and collaborative events, UCFS provides members with opportunities to build meaningful connections, develop as leaders, and create a lasting impact on the Virginia Tech community.

National Pan-Hellenic Council

The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is the governing council for Virginia Tech's historically African American fraternities and sororities. Founded on the principles of scholarship, service, leadership, and brotherhood and sisterhood, NPHC promotes unity among its member organizations while celebrating their rich traditions through educational programs, cultural events, and community service initiatives.
